As usual, I’m feeling a bit neglectful of this blog. Its a New Year, 2026! So let’s take a look at what I’m doing creatively and maybe you’ll get inspired to express yourself in new ways.
A movie I made 2 years ago has finally hit the streets. Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Shark was released on January 20, 2026. It can currently be streamed on YouTube, Google TV and Fandango At Home. Or it can be purchased on DVD from Wild Eye Releasing. I recommend the DVD because then you get the back story through the special features

This was a fun project. And though it is likely to be disdained by the majority of viewers by virtue of its incredibly low budget, the movie accomplishes pretty much what I set out to do. I had some wonderful collaborators and everyone contributed in ways that elevated the quality of the project.
I was asked to provide feedback on a screenplay two friends had written. I was honored to weigh in on this very noteworthy story based on actual historical events. The day they finished the final draft they entered it in a screenwriting competition associated with the Cannes Film Festival and they were soon notified they were one of the six finalists. I wish them major success! I want to see this thing become a major motion picture. (I’ll post more details as the situation develops.)
The weather is very cold in North Central Texas now, so I’m not out in the garage painting. I’ll get back to that probably in March. I could paint in the house but I know from experience I don’t like the set up and breakdown and disruption it causes to our normal indoor routine. I the garage I don’t have to worry about paint spatters, etc.
I’m writing my first crime novel — about 7 chapters into the process and I’m enjoying it. The novels I’ve written in the past are more aptly categorized as fantasy/science fiction/ horror. This will be my first attempt to appeal a more mainstream audience. I’ll post more on this project as it becomes an actual book.
I’m presently reading/editing a novel by a lifelong friend — a guy I’ve known since I was 15 — and its an opportunity to be of service, to teach and to learn a few things myself along the way.
I am dabbling a bit with ideas for another micro budget movie. I’d like to do something involving puppets. Maybe that will come together sometime this year. The financial returns on little movies are quite slim. The only real motivation for doing one is creative expression. The good thing is that movies can be made so cheaply these days, a filmmaker can produce some really unique, fringe projects without sweating the cost.
I suppose I’ve rambled on long enough. If you’re interested, check out my YouTube Channel:

I began this Science Fiction Book Review channel on August 20, 2025. I review SF paperback books from 1950 forward. Having a lot of fun with that!
